Greetings!

Hello! This is Asif Gausman, and I will be posting the progress of the Second Life Team. Our whole team is finally set up in Second Life and we are friends on the teen grid.

So far we have blueprints of our media center. The center will be made to recreate the old villa that Dubai American Academy was based in. Our team members have learnt basic building and have been exploring the depths of SL and the uses of Second Life as a medium. Meanwhile, our Tech Connections section of the team has successfully promoted SL during tech connections. Their objectives were:

· Generating a list of materials for the booth
· Using the SL movies to Promote Second Life
· Creating a tutorial for logging in, selecting appearance, basic skills in SL, building a cube, etc.
· Making a banner to promote the SL environment
· Producing a list of tips/links/resources useful for further investigation

Our Second Life team is currently working on:

· Creating a list of elements
· Sketching center on paper
· Building a model on sketch-up
· Collecting electronic resources
· Exploring SL as a medium

Our next steps are to start a solid layout for the media center as well as learning advanced building. This includes our current exercise, which is building a platform that drops a ball on a chain of dominoes.

Hope to see you on the grid, Asif.

Yes, Tech Connections went really well! A lot of people seemed really interested, especially in it's potential for education. We even had parents who were interested in using it for their businesses!

So far, so well! We did a fine job in tech connections, and so now we are on to bigger and better things. Bigger things like the media center and eventually our school! Hopefully we will achieve these goals like we did with tech connections... see you guys in world!

I didn't get to see our stall at tech connections, but I heard it was pretty effective! Hopefully we'll continue to receive positive feedback about our project.

Tech Connections was a really good experience for me, and aswell as the rest of the Second Life team. As I do recall, this was the first time we have actually gotten together in the Second Life world. We worked well, however, we were issuing some problems with other avitars. Thanks for the experience!

Tech Connections was great. I had started out pretty rough on explaining cause I was nervous, but after a couple of tries, I perfected it. I delivered the information appropriately and so did everyone else. Good job all of you guys!
